We begin with my father's mother.
Clara was born in 1933 in Lawton, Oklahoma, the eldest daughter of Clarence Hough and Josephine Hooker. In 1949, she married Robert Harloff, and the two had 3 children together before separating. In the mid 50s, she married Ray Williams, and they had one daughter.
Clara went by her middle name, and so was known to most as Jolene Williams. She mainly did clerical work, but her true passion was art. A talented painter, my grandmother spent much of her time honing her skills, producing a large body of work over the decades. She passed away in 1994.
Born in Oklahoma in 1914, Josephine was the eldest of William Hooker and Telia Bowen's two daughters. In the very early 30s, she married Clarence Hooker, and the two settled in Lawton, raising their two daughters there.
Josephine, along with her husband, worked for the city for much of her life. She passed away in 1996 and is buried beside Clarence, who passed away in 1992.
Telia, sometimes recorded as Sarah-Telia or Telia-Sarah, was born in 1890 in Chickasaw Nation, Oklahoma. She was the 2nd of seven children, 5 of whom lived to adulthood. In 1911, she married William "Pat" Hooker, and the couple lived awhile in Texas, before returning to Oklahoma, and raising their two children on a farm near Lawton. Telia passed away in 1966.
